The Pell City Police Department’s Animal Control division is responsible for protecting the health and safety of the citizens and their pets in the City of Pell City.

Animal Control Officers provide a variety of services to the citizens within the corporate city limits of Pell City including:

  • Answering calls concerning suspected abuse or cruelty to animals
  • Animal Bites
  • Barking dog, nuisance cats and other animals that present a problem to the community
  • Injured animals

Pell City does have a leash law, a vicious animal ordinance, and requires owners to be in control of their pets at all times. Dogs are considered vicious that have bitten or have threatened to bite persons. Dogs that cross property lines and attack other dogs are also considered vicious along with dogs that destroy personal property. Animals that cause damage or have been classified as vicious must be maintained by the owner and are not permitted to roam free. The City provides pick up services for stray dogs and cats. All animals picked up by the city will be delivered to the Pell City Animal Control Center.
