Q: How do I find out about bidding opportunities?

A: The City maintains a bid list for various different types of services.  When a situation is presented of which requires the competitive bid process to be performed, the City will send out a bid packet that contains specifications for that project.

Q: How do I get on the City’s bid list?

A: The vendor will submit a letter to the City Clerk on company letterhead that displays all contact information and lists what type of products services are provided.

Q: Why do you need a bid bond? Can I submit a company check? When will I get the bid bond back?

A: The Alabama Competitive Bid laws require a bid bond in the amount of 5% for any contract valued greater than $10,000. A company check is not an acceptable format for a bid bond. Your bid bond will not be cashed unless you fail to honor your bid. Bid bonds are returned when the contract is awarded.

Q: Does the City have a set aside program for small, minority and disadvantaged businesses?

A: The laws of the State of Alabama do not allow set asides. We  insure equal access to business opportunities to all vendors. We encourage your participation.
